Driven by the "dual carbon" strategy, Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone Jiate Metal Products Co., Ltd. recently released the "2025 Carbon Neutrality Action Plan", planning to achieve a 50% reduction in carbon emissions per unit of output value through three major paths: clean energy substitution, process innovation and carbon sink trading.
As a high-energy-consuming metal processing company, Jiate Metal has long been planning its green transformation. In 2021, it invested 8 million yuan to build a distributed photovoltaic power generation system with an annual power generation of 1.2 million kWh, covering 30% of production electricity; in 2023, the company's "short process smelting technology" will reduce the energy consumption of aluminum alloy production by 22% and obtain Jiangsu Province Green Technology Certification. In addition, its lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy products have been used in new energy vehicles such as Weilai and BYD, helping downstream industries reduce emissions.
"Green manufacturing is not a cost burden, but a new growth point." Zhou Wei, technical director of Jiate Metal, emphasized. According to statistics, the company's environmental protection product revenue will account for 35% in 2023, and more than 60% of overseas customers will include ESG (environment, society, governance) performance in their purchasing standards.
Local governments also highly support Jiate Metal's practice. The Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone Management Committee revealed that it will join forces with enterprises to build a "Green Metal Industry Alliance" to promote technical breakthroughs such as scrap steel recycling and hydrogen furnaces. The industry predicts that with the implementation of policies such as carbon tariffs, Jiate Metal's leading advantage is expected to be transformed into market share, providing a reference path for the low-carbon transformation of traditional manufacturing.
