Recently, Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone Jiate Metal Products Co., Ltd. announced that its smart factory project with a total investment of 300 million yuan has entered the trial operation stage. The project realizes digital control of the entire process from raw material procurement to finished product delivery by introducing industrial Internet platform, 5G Internet of Things technology and AI quality inspection system. 80% of the production equipment in the factory is connected to the cloud management system to monitor key indicators such as energy consumption and yield rate in real time. It is expected that production efficiency will increase by more than 35% and labor costs will be reduced by 20%.
As a benchmark enterprise in the metal processing field in the Yangtze River Delta region, Jiate Metal's digital transformation is not achieved overnight. Since 2013, the company has successively introduced German automated production lines and established a research and development center to overcome casting processes. The implementation of this smart factory marks its leap from "manufacturing" to "intelligent manufacturing". Li Ming, the company's general manager, said: "In the next three years, we will extend our digital capabilities to supply chain collaboration, create a 'zero inventory' flexible production model, and meet the customized needs of markets such as new energy vehicles and semiconductor equipment."
Industry insiders analyzed that the metal products industry is facing challenges such as fluctuations in raw material prices and increased environmental pressure. Jiate Metal's intelligent transformation provides replicable experience for its peers. According to statistics, the penetration rate of domestic industrial Internet in manufacturing in 2023 was only 12%, and Jiate Metal has ranked among the top 5% in the industry through the integration of self-developed systems and external technologies. The commissioning of its new factory may become an important engine to promote the upgrading of the regional industrial chain.
